Mark 4:37-39 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
Dear Praying Friends,
It is hard to believe that summer is drawing to a close. God has allowed us to experience many blessings and a few “great storms“. I chose the verse above for many reasons; as I write this article I am looking out my window as a storm showers us with heavy rain and lightening.
July was a very busy month. Because of the “great storms” (heavy rains), we found that the Freedom House had a hidden flaw. The huge amount of rain that fell this summer revealed a ground water leak on the backside of our building. The office in the Freedom House began to smell bad, we discovered that the carpet was wet. We then found that water from all the rains was seeping into our building. To make a long story shorter, we began a renovation of the Servicemen’s Center.
5 tons of rock, 100′ of drain field pipe 15 gallons of paint, 8 new windows, 1265 sq. ft of carpet squares, 2 trips to the dump, many long exhausting hours of hard work, we are just about finished with with the mini remodel. I am thankful that God has allowed Dan, Kelly, Andrew & Jordan Kursinsky to move to the area to help us in so many ways. The Kursinsky’s have been a huge blessing to us and as they get settled in we expect great things as God uses them at Fort Benning. Without their help the remodel would not have been possible.
July also gave us another kind of “great storm” Brother Ken Chupp and his youth group from Philadelphia Baptist Church, Rutledge, GA. roared into Fort Benning with our annual NASCAR racing experience. I think this was our 5th year to host what has become the highlight of our ministry year. Brother Ken is a NASCAR Pit Crew Member, his team allows him the use of a real NASCAR car for the week. Ken is a gifted motivational speaker. We scheduled 7 motivational events in the units we work with. Judging by the after event response from Battalion Commanders, this year was super successful.
Brother Chupp garnered the attention of Atlanta Motor Speedway. The top executive was excited about this event he arranged for an official “Pace Car” and a representative to come to our Wednesday event. The executive also sent us 20 tickets for the Labor Day weekend races at Atlanta Motor Speedway. We were able to give away the pairs of tickets to Drill Sergeants, Cadre and staff. What a blessing some storms are!
Brother Chupp is also a very capable Man of God. God opened a huge door of opportunity for us, by allowing Brother Ken to preach 3 back to back Chapel services. When all was tallied for the chapel services, Brother Ken preached to over 740 soldiers… the best part is that 42 soldiers trusted Christ to save their souls. When you add in the attendance for the motivational week we ministered to over 3900 soldiers.
Please be in prayer for the Ingram’s! We are going through a “great storm” in our personal and ministry life. We know the “Master will arise rebuke the wind, and say unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind cease, and there will be a great calm.
